when and where we meet
The Do Life Computers group meets on the first Sunday of the month (watch your calendar) from 4pm-5pm at Crossroads Community Church in Vancouver, WA in front of the cafe in the "family room" (lobby).
I will be wearing a red coat most likely, white coat in the summer if I wear one at all.
Description of Activities or Focus
- presentation of computer topics
- questions
- discussion of problems and fixes, issues with computers
- fellowship
- helping each other out in our area of expertise
- bring your computer and we will try our best to fix it.
If you give us warning, I can bring my software utilities collection and my toolbag.
- occasional Bible Study
facilities
There are wall plugs we can use to power up computers with for demonstration or fixing purposes.
If you need your computer fixed, or you have a problem to solve, if not me, it is very likely someone in the group has a solution.
church internet access
We have no public internet access at the church (yet).
content
Sometimes I hold classes on things like how to use email, how to use paint programs and do necessary things with them like putting parts of one image over the top of another.
You tell me what subjects you would like to have for content.
I also tend to bring handouts.
Usually they are from my web site.
bring visitors!
bring people.
they don't have to sign up (unless they want to be notified by phone and email of meetings).
people from outside of the church are especially welcome.
Just bring people who are interested in coming.
experience level of audience
I try to cater to all levels of audience.
that is difficult to do.
Help with computer problems and questions
Joel May and I can help with computer questions.
If you contact me I can route you to him, or I could answer the question myself.
Major Change
Due to lack of content (and until I can get more content), I will be handling questions and issues as they come up regarding computers, as will others in the group.
If I have absolutely nothing, I will be going through Josh McDowell's "Truth Alive Series: Evidence Growth Guide, Part II: Exploring the Uniqueness of the Bible".
This is a 6-page site.
I need subjects contributed from you. we can get together and talk about computers and computer problems.
There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every person, and it can never be filled by any created thing.
It can only be filled by God, made known through Jesus Christ.

Gravity explains the motions of the planets,
but it cannot explain who set the planets in motion.
God governs all things and knows all that
is or can be done.

Well God, I've wanted to win, won, and tried to win up to now.
How about if you win? I've had enough.

God invented computers and software. That goes for medicine as well.
He puts great ideas into people's minds - when the time is right, God's invention flourishes, and the the idea forms in someone's mind.

If my people, which are called by my name, will humble themselves,
and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their land.

about my programming
The languages I currently use for development are SQL, PHP, C++, Perl, Java, Assembler, JavaScript, Auto-it3, Tcl, BASIC, and now the flex & bison tools (again). I only do minimal stuff with Flash.
Certifications have not benefitted me and seem to be a waste of my resources. I know basically what I can do.
Windows GUI programming I tried once before using MFC, but now I am trying to tackle it using only the Win32 API. any help is greatly appreciated. Now I would like to work with combo boxes and list boxes without using a resource editor, and using mingw.
